In your parenting journey, you will come to find not just strength but companionship in the duas of Prophets. These duas weren’t just prayers for grand miracles — they were cries from the heart. Raw, honest and full of tawakkul.
These Prophetic duas make you feel like you’re holding a thread that connects your struggles to something ancient, noble, and divinely heard.
Here are 3 duas that every mother needs to know:
Between lunchboxes and laundry, our focus sometimes ends up on the to-do list, and we forget the bigger picture. But this dua of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) pulls you out of the daily grind.
رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ
“Rabbij’alni muqimas-salati wa min dhurriyati…”
“My Lord, make me one who establishes prayer, and [also] from my children.”
(Qur’an 14:40)
Prophet Ibrahim's (AS) dua for his progeny reminds us of the bigger picture in our own parenting and the legacy we leave behind in raising Muslim children.
Parenting isn't just about chores and rituals. It’s about connection, sincerity, and identity.
We all sometimes wish we could wiggle out of difficult conversations, like those about death, war, or family breakups. We all worry we may not say things quite right.
In these moments, we need Allah to guide us, not only to the right words but also to gentleness, truth, and wisdom.
In these moments, whisper this dua of Musa (AS):
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لي صَدْرِي و يَسِّرْ لي أَمْرِي
“Rabbi shrah li sadri, wa yassir li amri”
“O my Lord, open up my chest and ease my task for me.”
(Qur’an 20:25–26)
This Prophetic dua will, inshaAllah, make our words land right where they need to in our children's hearts.
We don’t talk enough about how hard it is to carry the difficulties of motherhood. Sometimes we just need to stop pretending we've got it all figured out and, instead, turn to the One who always has our back.
أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
“Anni massaniyad-durru wa anta arhamur rahimin.”
“Indeed, hardship has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.”
(Qur’an 21:83)
It’s a reminder that even the strongest mothers are allowed to rest, to lean on Allah, and to know that His mercy will always find them.
Motherhood is a journey full of firsts — first steps, first school days, first “I love you, Mama.” But it’s also full of questions.
How do I raise a child with faith?
How do I answer the big questions?
How do I stay soft and strong at the same time?
The truth is: you’re not meant to walk this alone.
And you’re not the first to wonder.
Even the Prophets — the best of people — made dua in their moments of worry, love, and responsibility. They turned to Allah not just for miracles, but for guidance in raising the next generation.
You don’t have to be the perfect mother. You just have to be the one who turns to Allah.
Even when you don’t know how to help your child, or what’s coming next — turn to Allah. He knows exactly what you and your child need.
